I have a lot of people ask me, "How did you get your start in comedy?" Good question!
A friend of mine was going to a different church than the one that I was going to at the time. His church was putting together a comedy night as an outreach, & they wanted someone goofy (who didn't attend their church) to MC it. So guess who got asked? ME! So, agreed to MC this Christian comedy show that they were hosting at their church.
He told me that I could write some jokes if I wanted to, but pretty much all I had to do was announce the comedians. He said that they were going to have at least two comedians & possibly a third one.

So, being the natural risk taker that I am (My dad calls it "lack of common sense.) I agreed & proceeded to spend the next few weeks writing as much material as I possibly could.
I did the show & to my surprise it was a great show! Will McDaniel came up, did his show (which was AMAZING!) and absolutely KILLED IT!!
After the show Will & I talked. He told me that if I had not of told him before the show that this was my first time going on, he would have thought that I had been doing it for 3 or 4 years. We exchanged contact info & he told me that he wanted to help me get going.
About 2 weeks later Will sent me something in the mail that equipped me to write comedy & to work on my stage show: Killer Stand-Up Comedy System by Steve Roye
I went through this course & by the time I was done with just the writing course I had 45 minutes of fresh material, in addition to the 20 minutes of material that I already had written from my first show (which a lot of it I went back & "revamped" after going through Killer Stand-Up Comedy System).
There's a lot of people out there that teach comedy writing - and there is a lot that you can learn from all of them! But there's not another course as far as I'm concerned that's better put together or taught more simply than Steve's Killer Stand-Up Comedy System.
Since I've started applying the knowledge & techniques that Steve teaches in Killer Stand-Up Comedy System, my bank of material has grown from 20 minutes up to 2.5 hours of material that I can perform on stage! And I'm constantly writing, too!
So, if you're looking into getting into comedy I HIGHLY recommend that you get Steve's Killer Stand-Up Comedy System. Here's a list of other comedians who've used the Killer Stand-Up Comedy System that you may or may have not heard of:
- Tim Hawkins
- Mike Williams
- Rich Praytor
- Eric Johnson (that's me!)
- And many, many more!

Connected Comedy was founded by Josh Spector, who's a marketing genius! He's developed a website packed full of insight & information that helps you learn about the BUSINESS of comedy. From marketing to promotions to open mic nights to selling merchandise, Josh's Connected Comedy is one website that you must check out!
But there's more to Connected Comedy than a website! Josh has also fostered a following of comedians, who more or less, has established a community of comedians on Facebook called Connected Comedians. It's a great place to ask questions from comedians at all stages of their careers.

I DO WANT TO WARN YOU: If you are a Christian or someone who's easily offended, then neither Killer Stand-Up Comedy System or Connected Comedy is for you. Both of these websites are designed for comedians from all walks of life, not just clean or Christian comedians! - So, consider yourself WARNED!
